Hello everyone,
On my desktop, I am using Jaws 11 with IE 8 or 9. I think it is version 8.
When I open any web page, Jaws says "Open parent document button." How does one solve this problem?
I use a different version of IE with the same version of jaws on my laptop and do not have this problem.
Sounds like The IE was updated to 9? I believe from my old FS support days this was an Jaws 11, not working with IE 9 thing. Launch IE and press insert control v to hear the version number of IE. Make sure you're running the very last build of J11, and if you are in fact running IE 9, remove it and return to IE 8, if Jaws 11 is the only version you are authorized for.
Yes, I have experienced this problem before.
You can take one of two steps:
Either get Firefox and use that, or if you are used to IE, you will need to downgrade it. Here are the steps, since they weren't provided in the last post:
1. Press the Windows key to launch the start menu.
2. In the search box, type view installed updates.
3. A list of updates will load; sometimes slowly, depending on how fast your computer is and how many are installed.
4. Use first-letter navigation, and press W until you here Jaws say Windows Internet Explorer, followed by version number.
5. Press enter on this option; a dialogue will ask if you are sure you want to remove IE; it may be an okay button or yes. Either way, press enter on this. Note: If a prompt appears that says, do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer; known as User Account Control, press Alt + Y to say yes. This can be turned off under control panel.
Let me know if you need further assistance. These steps only apply for Windows 7 all versions, and Windows 8 all versions. If you are using XP, please let me know.
